Grandfather

I say there, Grandfather, Grandpa, Golden Oldie, Grampa, Grumpa, Gampa, Gumpa, Gramps, Gramp, Dumbpa, Grandy (masculine version of "Granny"),

Listen up! You have some seventy descendants—children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren (as of the end of this freezing cold year 2010), with an end to your marvelous heaven-sent progeny still way way down the road a piece), so how come you have (basically) composed a few rimes about Andrew W. Larsen only? Jist cuz the W stands for Windell?

Patience! Give me a little time. I'm only 87, you know, going on 99. No one will get left out. So don't shout! Jist take it easy, if it please ye.

Think on this for a second, however and though. Riming June with moon, goon, soon, spoon, swoon, croon, dune, rune, boon, atune, hewn, loon, noon, prune, coon, tune, shewn, chewin', wooin', you'n, zoo'n, etc. is as simple and easy as falling off a log and a half—or less—into a bog.

Now try trying that with Johnny or John (Brawny, Go on?), Marjean or Jeannie (Barqueen, Genie?), Wendy (Hendy Pendy?), Anna (Banana?), Teresa (Teaser?), Carolyn (Barrelin', Carolin'?), Alice (Palace, Chalice)...... And what if we had a granddaughter named Mahittible or a grandson called, Pahiddible?

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! That ain't that easy, Pa! Whereas Andrew? Anew,, accrue, blue, boo, brew, chew, clue, coo, crew, do, dew, drew, due, few, foo, flue, flew, glue, goo, goon, grew... You get the idea... And we shall mercifully skip over boo, choochoo, frufru, hoo, shoe, shoo, to, too, two, zoo, etc.

And that is simply (simply put) just one-syllable stuff. What if we were to go on to able, Babel, cable, fable, Gable, label, navel... just as one small for instance? What if we omitted gems like "When my father comes to table, you would think that he was out in the stable?

Ho ho ho! No limit to the arrows for my bow. Yeah, how often do I shoot myself in the _________? Ask me where and you will rue the... the... the... the... the... the... the... the... the... the... the... the... Oh, well! Oh, shoot! I give up. You rime it and/or rhyme it—on your dime, not my time!—with bow (toe, elbow, ego, tow, sew, know, pro, lo... you get the idea).
